Hardee's is alive and well down this way. They once had a monopoly on small town fast food in the late 80's and early 90's but blew it by having such filthy restaurants that the health department shut down many of them. I know of at least one such case.
It was a shame, though: Hardee's had more variety than most fast food places had to offer earlier on and I LOVED their apple turnovers they used to sell back in the 80's with that thick sugar coating. I never see much business in Hardee's down here except at breakfast time. You can't beat their breakfasts, though.
Most have closed in the area I'm in and the nearest one is in the Fond du Lac area which is about a half hour away.
